Dorothy R. Tate, 90 of Lodi passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 3, 2013 following a brief illness. She was born on January 7, 1922 to Richard McCormick and Elvera Baker in Pocahontas, Iowa. In 1940, she married her sweetheart William J. Tate, who would remain her faithful loving husband for over 72 years.
In 1953 Dorothy and William moved to Lodi, where over the years they owned several successful service station businesses.
Dorothy loved keeping an exceptionally clean house, cooking and homemaking, and most of all spending time with her cherished family and many friends. Dorothy was a devout member of St. Annes Catholic Parish for several decades.
She is survived by her husband William, sister Betty Payne, sons Marvin Tate and Tim Tate, grandsons Scott Tonn, Todd Tate, Tony Tate, and Travis Tate, granddaughters Vicki Snell, Lisa Hall, and Sarah Deplitch, great-granddaughters Krysta Pleyte (Snell), Kelsey Snell, Jessica Tonn, Bailey Deplitch and Hana Deplitch, great-grandsons Blake Tonn, Jonathan Hall, Quinn Hall, Dusty Hall, Carson Snell, and Abraham Deplitch, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter Muriel (Diane) Tonn, her parents, her twin brother Donald McCormick, her brother Andrew McCormick and sister Micky Smith.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 10, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Lodi Funeral Home 725 S. Fairmont Avenue. Committal will be at the Garden of the Gospels at Cherokee Memorial Park.
