Earnest L. Honea passed away peacefully early Saturday morning December 14, 2013 in Sacramento, California at Sacramento Mercy General Hospital. He was 75 years old. He was born July 17, 1938 in Poteau, Oklahoma. He moved to Lodi, California with his family in the fall of 1942. He enlisted in the Navy in the fall of 1956. He became a Navy Corpsman attached to the Marine Corp. He served in Vietnam. While still in the service in the Bay Area in California he worked at Oak Knoll Hospital. He retired from the Military after 20 years of service to his Country. After retiring from the Service he headed up the X-Ray Dept. at San Leandro Memorial Hospital in the Bay Area. After that he was employed at Lodi Memorial Hospital prior to retiring. His hobbies were Water Skiing, Dirt Biking, Fishing and he loved playing the Guitar. While undergoing treatment for Alcoholism in 1982 he renewed his faith in God and Jesus Christ and has been leading a good Christian life and maintained his faith until the hour of his death. Ernie and, his wife, Muriel attended Century Assembly Church where Ernie was very active in "Crossroads Ministry". Ernie is preceded in death by his parents Amanda and Leonard Honea; lst. wife Marilyn (Sue) Honea; grand-daughter Amanda Ryan Neely; brothers J.D, Honea, Lester Honea and Dwain Honea; sisters Billie Stevens and Zona Knight-Turner. He is survived by his 2nd. wife Muriel Honea; daughters from 1st. marriage - Debera Honea and Robin Zilembo (Quint); grandsons Nicholas Zilembo (Jaymie) Drake Zilembo; step-son Marvin Rogers; step-daughter Marcy Myers; step-grandchildren Matthew Sorensen and Jordan Myers; great grand-daughter Caitlyn; sisters Imogene Gaub-Stancil and Barbara Collins (Don) Uncle Aj Honea and aunt Zelda Honea; many beloved nieces and nephews & numerous loving cousins all over the Country.
A Memorial Service for Ernie will be held December 30th 2013 at Century Assembly Church located at 550 W Century Blvd. Lodi, California at 1:30 pm. Pastor Mark Guerrerro will be presiding. Donations may be made in Ernie's name to Crossroads Ministry c/o Century Assembly.
