Gertraud "Trudi" Rous passed away Sunday, January 27, 2013 at Dameron Hospital in Stockton of complications due to COPD. She was born on April 30, 1936 in Sangerhausen, Germany. Trudi came to America from war-torn Germany with her mom, dad and brother in the early 50's to pursue a new life in America. She was extremely proud to be an American citizen, and as such was very active in the Lodi community for years volunteering and participating in such things as the Lodi Garden Club, Pink Ladies and Republican Women's league. Trudi and her late husband worked extremely hard when they got to America and built an egg business from the ground up on a ranch in Clements. She embodied a pioneer spirit and had quite the wanderlust for travel. For years Trudi went on cruises which she treasured and traveled extensively throughout the US and abroad. She was also drawn to spiritual pursuits for healing such as Reiki and Tai Chi, and was very close to God and interested in all things of a spiritual nature. More recently she resided at Merrill Gardens in Stockton.
She is survived by her son, Gerald and his wife Caroline Rous of Lodi. Brother, Armin Franke of Acampo. Niece, Deidra Lund and her family of Lodi. Nephew, David Franke and his family of Acampo.
Her adopted grandchildren, Aaron and Crystaline Combs of Rancho Cordova and John Combs of Lodi. Three great grandchildren.
She will be deeply missed by her family and many friends as she embodied great strength, and yet a sweet gentleness and caring for all.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial service on Friday, February 1, 2013 at 1:00pm at the Donahue Funeral Home, 123 N. School St., Lodi.
