Gladys Hope Peterson, 91, passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at her home in Lodi, California.
She was born on October 1, 1921 in Ellendale, North Dakota to Adam and Marie (Schmidt) Schmierer.
Gladys grew up in Acampo, California. She attended Houston School and graduated from Lodi High School in Lodi in 1941. After high school she went to work for Tolliver Printing Company as a bookkeeper. She then began work for AAA Insurance as an Office Manager where she worked for42 years. Gladys married Harlie Amburn in 1942 in Lodi, California. They were married until his passing in 1962. Gladys later married Frank Peterson in 1972 until his passing in 1982. Gladys actively participated in Lodi Business & Professional Women's Association, Widowed Persons Association of California, San Joaquin County Grand Jury and Lodi Garden Club. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, golfing and playing bridge. She was also a volunteer Pink Lady at Lodi Memorial Hospital.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents Adam and Marie Schmierer; her brothers Arthur, Clarence, Ernest, Melvin; her sister Francis; and husbands Harlie Amburn and Frank Peterson.
Gladys is survived by her sister Doris Amburn, brothers Lawrence Schmierer and Gordon (Esther) Schmierer Sr.; step-children Leonard (Alyce) Peterson, Norma (Marc) Mettler, Stephen (Kis) Peterson; and herloving nieces, nephews and numerous other relatives.
A memorial service will be held at Lodi Funeral Home, 725 S. Fairmont, Lodi, California at 2:00 pm on March 15, 2013.
Final internment will be at Cherokee Memorial Park in the Chapel of Flowers. A virtual register may be signed at www.lodifuneralhome.com
