Irene Gertrude Fowler-Roth(1918-2012)

Irene Gertrude Fowler-Roth, age 94 of Lodi, went home to be with the Lord on December 28th, 2012. She was born on April 29th, 1918 to Roland (Pink) and Gertrude V. Fowler in Norton Kansas. She grew up on the family farm outside of Norton. She graduated from Hayes College in Kansas with a teaching degree. She was the second highest paid teacher in Norton County making $47.50 a month. She taught grades 1-8 in a one-room school house.
In 1938 her family moved from the ranch to California, settling in Clements. She went for a visit with her family and met her future husband, Emil W. Roth. They were married on December 31st, 1939. During WWII she volunteered as a plane spotter where the Clements Community Church now stands. She loved the Lord and taught many Bible studies at home and was a Sunday school teacher. She attended Temple Baptist Church until she was no longer able to go regularly. Pastor Ron Martens would spend time with her listening to her old stories and reading the Word.
She was preceded in death by her husband Emil on January 31, 1978 and her brother Lawrence Fowler on April 23rd, 2012. She is survived by her daughter Emily Roth Humphries (Thomas) of Clements; Her son John W. Roth (Susan) of St. Augustine Fl. and locally her grandson Joshua P Renfroe (Rachelle) of Acampo. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family would like to invite you to the Celebration of her life on January 8th, 2013 at 12 noon at the Clements Community Church - 18544 Walnut Street-Clements, CA. Private committal will be at the Temple of Memories, Cherokee Memorial Park. In lieu of flower donations can be made in her name to the Clements Community Church building fund or donor of your choice.
