Marylin A. Goerhing(1929-2012)

Marilyn A. Goehring, 83 of Lodi passed away on Sunday, December 30, 2012. She was born in Eureka, South Dakota on January 16, 1929. She moved to Canada with her family and attended High School in Canada before moving to Lodi in 1951.
Marilyn became an LVN and married her soul mate Otto Goehring on December 27, 1952.
Marilyn worked in mental health care in Canada, and for Sutter Hospital, Mason Hospital, Community Hospital, and Fairmont Rehabilitation Hospital. She attended UOP where she eared a degree to become a drug & alcohol counselor. She was also part owner in Lockeford Country Flower Shoppe and in later years was a caregiver for her mother. She was involved with her children in the Lockeford School PTA, Lodi High School PTA; She was instrumental in establishing Teen Challenge in Lodi for drug & alcohol recovery, which later became Center of Hope, which later merged with Lodi Salvation Army.
Marilyn was also active with the Lockeford Clements Chamber of Commerce, San Joaquin Farm Bureau, Lockeford School Parents Club where she served as president, was president of Lodi High School Parents Club and President of the San Joaquin Floral Association. She loved her church and enjoyed fellowshipping with friends and family as well as gardening, Knitting and sewing. She and Otto traveled to Europe, did a road trip across the United States, made many trips to Canada and Hawaii. Her home was always open for family and friends.
Survivors include her daughter Norene (Mike) Bertsch of Lockeford, grandsons, Jeremy (Kristen) Bertsch of Lockeford, Sonny (Jessalee) of Lockeford and Chester (Tonya) Goehring of Lodi, five grandchildren Gauge & Aubrey Goehring, Chloe Ann & Quintin Goehring and Jackson Bertsch, sister, Elinor Hackett of Sacramento, brother, Warren (Lisa) Gretsinger of Morgan Hill, CA and Rick (Linda) Gretsinger of DeLeon, TX and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Otto Goehring, sons, Wayne & Brian Goehring and her parents, William & Bertha Gretsinger
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 7, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Church of God Seventh Day 2100 Tienda Dr. Lodi, CA 95242 followed by burial at Cherokee Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 6 from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home 831 E. Industrial Way, Lodi.
