Philippina was born in Hague, North Dakota on June 26, 1915, to John and Frances Volk. She had four sisters, Elizabeth, Anna, Antonia, and Francis and two brothers, Jake and Roy, who all preceded her in death. Philippini married Mathias Eberle on September 18, 1936, and moved to California in 1944. They built five houses from the ground up and remodeled many rentals. They were self-employed for many years, and later Philippina worked for Lodi Community Hospital where she was the CEO of Housekeeping. She was an active member in the Dakota Club and had started a square dancing club in Lodi. After the death of Mathias in 1985, she continued to be active, volunteering for St. Vincent De Paul, and she loved to dance. She met and married Benty Johnson in 1995, and they enjoyed eight years together before Benty passed away. Philippina is survived by three sons; Pius Eberle, owner and operator of Bell Turbo, his wife, Barbara, owner of Bell Apparel, of Corvallis, OR, Francis Eberle, retired Collision Specialist and currently, part-time Body Repairman Consultant, his wife, Kathi, of Paradise; and Roy Eberle, retired Policeman, currently part-time Security in a Casino in Las Vegas, his wife, Janet, of Mesquite, NV; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, July 30, at 1:00 p.m. at Cherokee Memorial Park. There is no visitation. Lodi Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
