Raymond was born in Oakland, California to Eddy and Bianca Mueller, grew up in Berkeley, California. He graduated from Berkeley High School in 1943, attended San Francisco City College for 2 years then graduated from UC Berkeley in 1948. He met and married Lida Lou Branstead of Berkeley in 1948 and moved to San Leandro, California in 1951. Ray and Lida moved to Lodi, California in 1957 and settled in Lockeford on a small farm raising wine grapes, walnuts and almonds. Ray started to work for California State Automobile Association in 1960 and served for 32 years as a regional claims adjuster. Ray was active in the Lodi Masonic Lodge and served on the Board of Directors for the local DeMolay Chapter for many years. He also was an active member of the Sons In Retirement Chapter in Lodi and provided many moments of comic relief for their meetings.
Ray is survived by his wife Lida having enjoyed 64 years of marriage, sons Mark Mueller of Brentwood, CA and Rick Mueller of Morgan Hill, CA.; other members of the family include Mark's wife Jean (Sutherland) Mueller, granddaughters Laurel Winchester of Bend, Oregon, Cheryl Mueller of Foresville, TX and Kathryn Mueller of Brentwood, CA. Rick's family include wife Ellen (Lippert) Mueller, granddaughter Michelle Mueller of Morgan Hill and grandson Matthew Mueller and his wife Ashley Mueller of San Jose.
Ray enjoyed traveling, reading, collecting and sharing a great story with his friends and family.
A memorial service to celebrate Ray's life will be held on November 30, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church in Lodi at 1 PM.
The family would request that any donations in Ray's memory be given to Hospice of San Joaquin County or the Masonic Children's Hospital.
