There is now a large hole in our hearts that was once filled by the most caring, kind and loving man. He will be missed on this Earth, but never forgotten.
Robert (Bob) Jones was born to Ralph and Helen Jones on November 3, 1944 in San Francisco. He moved with his family to Albion, CA where he attended local schools. Bob graduated from Mendocino High School where he played basketball, football and track. At 17, Bob joined the U.S. Navy
and was assigned to the USS Belle Grove where he served in Vietnam. Post war, he worked as a Timber Faller until relocating to Santa Barbara where he followed his true love to attend college. Bob married Brenda Burman on August 17, 1968. Bob and Brenda then moved to Reno where he attended the University of Nevada, Reno. Bob received his Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering.
While in his senior year, Brenda gave birth to their son, Nick. Upon graduating, the young family relocated to Concord, CA where Bob went to work for Kiewit Construction. While as an Estimator and Superintendent at Kiewit, Bob worked on many projects which led him to move his family around California a total of six times in two and a half years. During this time, Brenda gave birth to their second child, Julie. Bob left Kiewit to pursue the opportunity to help start Ford Construction Company, Inc. here Bob worked on many large scale projects within the Western United States, including dams, prisons, highways and the like. Bob served as President of Ford Construction Company, Inc. from 2007 to present. He also had many other business endeavors including Foothill Materials, RM Jones Equipment Company, Deco Rock, North River Partners, Woodbridge Partners, Woodbridge Wine Group Inc.
He was a member of Associated General Contractors, American Society of Civil Engineers, Elks Lodge
, Moose Lodge, Knights of the Vine, American Legion, Woodbridge Golf and Country Club, Squares Social Club, San Joaquin County Historical Society, Farm Bureau, and a Member of St. Joachim's Catholic Church. Bob was a generous supporter of many charitable organizations. His enjoyments included all things outdoors and playing cards with his friends. His house and heart were open to many.
Bob is survived by his wife of 45 years Brenda; his son Nick (Candace) Jones; daughter Julie (Lee) Parton; his grandchildren Sydney and Trent Jones, Emma and Luke Parton of Lodi, CA; his sister Barbara (Bob) Zunino of Mendocino, CA; brother Skip Jones of Idaho; sister and brother-in-law Deanna and Ed Pawlus of Eureka, CA; as well as many nieces and nephews. Bob will also leave behind a wide network of loved friends and employees. Bob was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Helen Jones and niece Brianna Denison.
