Steven Joe Kikuchi, 56, of Wailuku, Maui, Passed away on August 7, 2013, at Maui Memorial Medical Center. He was born June 8, 1957, in San Jose, California.
Steve was a passionate landscape architect for over 25 years. He was visionary with land development, beautification of city development in several states, urban shopping centers, parks, and residential subdivisions. Steve was an ambitious, charistmatic entrepreneur, starting twelve businesses in his lifetime.
For the last ten years of Steve's life, he lived his dream on Maui. Steve loved Maui; it was his paradise. If you close your eyes, you can hear him say', "It doesn't get any better than this, another beautiful day on Maui!" He easily made many friends with his kind, generous, and positive nature. He was a people magnet. People would gather at his house for "talking story", smoking, coffee, and fellowship. He hosted numerous gatherings for luaus, birthdays, political candidates, Japanese delegates, and golfing buddies. He never had an unkind word to say about anyone. Steve lived in the moment and appreciated life. He loved to golf a couple of times a week and talk story about the game afterwards. Steve was blessed to be surrounded by a loving Maui Ohana whom he adored.
Steve was predeceased by his parents, Joseph Kikuchi and Yoshiko "Jane" Kikuchi. He is survived by his sisters, Nadine (David) Suyehiro and their children Kristina and Michelle Suyehiro, Sharon (Greg) Matsuura and their children, Grant, Aleisha, and Trisha Matsuura, brothers Wesley (Diana) Kikuchi and their children, Alex Elkins, Aaron, Conrad, Jaclyn, and Darren Kikuchi.
