William August Scharffenberg II(1947-2013)

William August Scharffenberg III passed away April 24, 2013. He was surrounded by his family and friends during his ten month battle with brain cancer.
William was born on January 9, 1947 in Los Angles, California. He graduated from Lodi High School in 1965. He graduated from the University of California Berkley in 1969 with a Mechanical Engineering degree. He began his professional career with Burroughs Corporation at the beginning of the information technology industry. He worked up to his diagnosis and during treatment at Surewest Communications in Roseville, California.
William was known as a dedicated husband and father who cared most about his family. He was a Bible scholar and enjoyed teaching classes at Fairmont Seventh-Day Adventist Church for 30 years. We will miss his sense of humor, ability to recall facts on any topic and fix anything. He was looking forward to retiring in a few years and spending time with family traveling.
William is survived by his loving wife, Sandra; sons William IV and Matthew, daughter-in-laws Cindy and Melissa; sister Kathi Boyett.
He was preceded in death by his parents Marie and Dr. William Scharffenberg Jr., an orthopedic surgeon in Lodi for many years.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, May 18, at 6:00pm at William and Sandra's home in Acampo, California, call Kathi P. at 209/334-0804 for details. There is no visitation and committal is private. Memorial contributions may be made to the University of California San Francisco Brain Tumor Research and Care center through the following methods.
