Bessie Mahl, of Lodi, passed away on July 21, 2014, in Stockton. Bessie was born in Texas on December 26th, 1929. Her father was a Pentecostal preacher, and her mother was a donut maker. They moved to Stockton when Bessie was 10. When she was in high school, she met Ernie, and they were married 66 years on March 6, 2014. Bessie is survived by her loving husband, Ernest; two children, Sherry Prescott, of Arizona, Diana Adams and her husband, Terry, of Felton, California; grandchildren, Kelly Ward, newly engaged, of Arroyo Grande, Joseph Ward and his wife, Catrina of Fullerton, David Adams and wife, Emily, their only great grandchild, Nathan of Felton, Jeffrey Adams, of Felton, and Thomas Adams, newly engaged of Felton. Bessie was an avid bowler. Her score was usually about 155. She bowled for 14 years. She could even beat Ernie, her husband, on many days! And then in the marble game department, she usually ALWAYS beat him! She could hold her own in card games, like Tic, Push and Hand and Foot. She was a painter, having painted many sweatshirts for all her children and grandchildren. She was an avid Nintendo player. She stayed up all night a few times trying to beat a new level and can compete with all her grandsons and usually beat them. She also has gotten the star on WII bowling - just this year with a high score of 167. Bessie learned to waterski at the age of 30, and the last time she waterskiied was at the age of 68. She and Ernie have been to Branson, Missouri, 14 times! That was one of her favorite places to travel. She worked at the register in the kitchen at Lodi High for 9 years and retired from there in 1991. She is a breast cancer survivor for 30 years. She was a 10 year survivor of metastacized breast cancer. She was a very strong and loving woman and will be missed by so many. May her memory be eternal.

Friends and family are invited to visit on Friday, July 25, from 10a.m.-5p.m. at Lodi Funeral Home. A chapel service will be held on Saturday, July 26, at 10 a.m. at Lodi Funeral Home. Committal will follow at Lodi Memorial Cemetery. Lodi Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
