Ervin Benny Bitterman Obituary
Ervin Benny Bitterman, 89, passed away January 23, 2014. He was born September 13, 1924 to John and Carolina Bitterman in Streeter, North Dakota.
After moving to Lodi, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1943 and proudly served aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise until he was honorably discharged in 1946. He saw battle action in the South Pacific.
He worked for General Mills from 1948 until his retirement as a warehouse supervisor in 1990. An avid golfer, he scored a hole-in-one on February 3, 1990 at the Forest Lake Golf Course.
He and his wife Clara traveled extensively overseas and in the U.S. He attended U.S.S. Enterprise reunions regionally and nationally. A friendly and open man, he made many friends wherever he went.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Clara Bitterman, his daughters; Karen of Sarasota, Florida and Nancy (Fred) Hernandez of Pacific Grove, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, John and sister Adina.
Graveside services will be held 10am Wednesday, January 29, 2014 in the Garden of Trees at Cherokee Memorial Park, Hwy 99 & Harney Ln., Lodi. Following the graveside service will be a Celebration of Life held at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 1540 W. Lodi Ave, Lodi. Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home is honored to serve the Bitterman Family.
