John Ellison Lewis passed away suddenly April 22, 2013, while on a working vacation in Maryland. Born on July 10, 1931, John was the youngest son of Constantine (Gus) Papageorgiou (Lewis) and Stella Travelos, immigrants from Samos, Greece. A lifelong resident of the Lodi area, John graduated from Lodi Union High School in 1949. Following graduation he proudly served his country as an MP in the Army during the Korean Conflict. While stationed at Fort Ritchie, Maryland, he met and married his wife of 59 years, Martha Ellen Berger of Tighmanton, Maryland. After returning to California, John began working for General Mills, retiring in 1993 after 38 years of service. In his "spare" time, John, along with his wife Martha, farmed a 20-acre vineyard in Acampo where they raised their two daughters.
