Raymond Arnold Meinel, age 71, of Lodi, Ca, passed away at home on September 13, 2013 from lung cancer. He was born March 13, 1942 in Grand Haven, MI to Arnold and Clara (Snyder) Meinel. He graduated from Grand Haven High School and joined the Navy. Ray served as a missile man aboard a nuclear submarine. He loved the Navy but returned to civilian life and went to work for PG&E as a gas serviceman and dispatcher. He retired 30 years later. Ray was a life-time member of the VFW in Grand Haven, Michigan, the Moose Club, and the SIRS organization of California. He had many interests: singing Karaoke was a favorite. He leaves behind his special friend Rose Hayles, his son Raymond Jr., three grandchildren, Nina, Brian, and Stevieray, several great grandchildren, his sister Arlene (Mike) Maxfield his niece Lori (Dan) Volovlek, great nephews, Vince and Anthony Volovlek, all of Grand Haven, Michigan as well as several stepchildren and their families in California and Oregon. He was proceeded in death by his parents Arnold and Clara Meinel, wife Janice Meinel, his daughter Linda McLaughlin and his brother Ronnie Meinel. Date of memorial service will be announced. Memorials may be sent to the Grand Haven VFW, 20 N. First Street, Grand Haven, MI 49417, or a Veteran's Organization of choice.
