Thomas Robert Saunders, 72 of Lodi passed away on Monday, January 28, 2013 in a Roseville hospital. Born in Stockton on May 23, 1940, he graduated from Stagg High as a part of the class of 1959. Tom later received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from UOP. Tom served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War serving in Paris and the Netherlands in communications.

Following his serve to his country he opened and ran a western clothing store, the Prairie Shop in Stockton for 10 years. He followed his retail career with 10 years with the San Joaquin County Sheriff's department where he worked as a distribution manager. In retirement he sold real estate for Prudential for three years.
Tom enjoyed working on his computer by helping his church, First Baptist in Lodi; he enjoyed yard work and had the greenest lawn on the block. He was actively involved in several church projects as well as the Kiwanis Club of Greater Lodi and was on the board with the Kiwanis Family House in Sacramento.
Survivors include: his wife of 49 years, Beverlee Saunders of Lodi and his son, Steven (Sandra) Saunders of Lodi.
A celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at 2:00 pm at The First Baptist Church 267 S. Mills Ave. Lodi.
Inurnment will be private at Cherokee Memorial Park.
