William Harold "Hal" Lawson Obituary
We the family of Hal Lawson would like to announce his passing to heaven in the early morning hours of Dec. 31, 2013 at the age of 88. He was a kind and loving husband to our mother, Ethel "Lee", for over 63 years and a loving and gentle father. He is survived by four children: Ann Taylor of Pioneer, CA; Jeanne Lawson Mills of Portland, OR; Douglas Lawson of Lodi; and Robert Lawson of Lodi; his sister, Betty Lawson of Lodi (recently of Pomona, CA); and many grandchildren & great grandchildren. His sister Lorene Masters preceded him in death. Hal grew up in Pomona CA with his parents Robert & Rosa Lawson. As the son of a barber, he shined shoes as a youth to earn spending money. During WWII he dropped out of college to earn money for an operation needed to join the Navy. After completing his Bachelors at Redlands, he worked at the U.S. Naval Ordinance Test Station at China Lake, CA. While living on the Navy base Hal & Lee started their family. He earned his Master's from UCLA then worked for Aerojet General and the State of California. The Family moved to Lodi over 45 years ago where he became an active member of Temple Baptist Church, and has enjoyed serving Christ and watching Temple Baptist grow. As a member of this community, he was also very active in Gideon's International and Sons of the American Revolution. For seventeen years he led weekly Bible studies at the Amador County Jail until his health problems prevented him from doing so. Our Father openly professed that he was; "The Richest Man Around because God blessed him with the love of his wife, children, in-laws, and grandkids that all love each other." Dad, we are all truly the ones blessed by having had you as our father and will miss you deeply.
With Love, The Family
