Fred was born in Lodi and in 1940 graduated from Lodi High School where he was a swimming great. He spent the WWII years in the US. Navy, then attended U.O.P where he was inducted into it's Hall of Fame for his swimming accomplishments. In 1948 he obtained a Teaching Degree from Stanford and spent his career in the Hayward Unified School District as a Swim Coach, Dean of Boys and Vice Principal.

Until age 80 he regularly competed throughout the U.S. in the National Masters Swimming Program, garnering top honors and a trunk full of medals.
He is survived by his wife Louvan, his sister Daisy Scaletta, nephews Carl Wishek Jr. and Robert Perasso, nieces Sheila Wishek, June Kaiser and Barbara Spangler.
At descendant's request there will be no funeral or memorial service.
