Arthur Fizer Obituary

Arthur Fizer of Galt/Lodi, age 96, died on October 2, 2008 in Lodi, California.
Art was born May 5, 1912 in Liberal, Kansas to John Henry Fizer and Lena May Burley Fizer.
At the age of about 16 the family moved to California.
Arthur was inducted into the US Army on August 29, 1942 and served in the southern Philippines.
Decorations and citations were American Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with bronze arrowhead, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one bronze star and Good Conduct Medal.
In the late 30's Arthur married Ricky Andersen. They were married for 50 years.
He had a dairy on Orr Road west of Galt where he and his wife lived.
Art had a love for playing pool and was always ready to challenge anyone. He was good.
One of Art's hobbies was carving duck and goose decoys and then painting them. Also he made duck boxes with his brother-in-law, Dolph Lahman, and put them in oak trees so that the wood ducks would have more nesting places for their young. He did this for many years. He was a man who loved the country life.
Art is survived by one sister, Norma Potter; and one brother-in-law, Dolph Lahman; and many nieces and nephews.
Art was preceded be his parents, two brothers and four sisters.
There is no visitation and committal will be at Galt Cemetery on October 8 at 2:00 p.m.
Donations may be made to VFW or to Calvary Bible Church Missions, Lodi, CA.
