Deanna Kay Boyles passed away peacefully on October 4, 2012 as a result of ALS Disease. She died at the Hospice House of San Joaquin in Stockton, with her husband by her side. She was 70.
Deanna was born in Fresno on June 28, 1942 to Jay and Ann Woody. On December 31, 1977 she married the love of her life, Charles "Vance" Boyles. They moved from San Jose to Lodi twenty-one years ago. She retired from the Lodi Unified School District where she had worked in the clerical department. Deanna was actively involved in many local organizations: Red Hat Society - Kindred Sisters Chapter, Beta Sigma Phi - Chapter PL1455, and TOPS - Chapter 1350. She was also involved with multiple local Bunco groups and a card group. Deanna always had a positive and bubbly outlook on life, and a wonderful sense of humor. She was incredibly sweet and loving and always cared for others. Her passion was to entertain and host her friends and family, decorating her home for the holidays, and gardening.
Deanna is survived by her husband of 34 years, two daughters Paula K. Smookler and Cindy L. Van Rhijn (Arie), six grandchildren, one great grandchild, her brother William Woody (Diane), two nephews Michael and Steven Woody, three great nephews, one great niece, and their dog Pee Wee.
She was preceded in death by her parents Jay and Ann Woody, and by her beloved dog Barney.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, October 12, 2012 at 11:00am at Belmont Memorial Park, 201 North Teilman Ave, in Fresno. Reception to follow at 12pm at Ovidios Restaurant, 3097 West Bullard Ave, Fresno. A celebration of life Memorial will be held in Lodi at a later date. Arrangements were made by Yost and Webb Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the ALS Association of Greater Sacramento, 2717 Cottage Way, Suite 17, Sacramento, CA 95825 or to the Hospice of San Joaquin, 3888 Pacific Avenue, Stockton, CA 95204.
