Donald O. Ziemann, 82 of Lodi, California died Tuesday July 10, 2012, after a short illness.
Don was born to the late Fred and Matilda Ziemann, March 22, 1930, in Lodi, California. He married Joy Zimbelmann in 1952. They had just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
Don was active in most sports in Lodi High where he graduated in 1948. He loved football and briefly played semi-pro. He carried this on by coaching several years of Pop Warner football.
Don worked for Tri-Valley Growers as Director of Field Operations, Northern District for 38 years. He was avid golfer and enjoyed the challenges of Dry Creek Golf Course. After he retired he became interested in the art of growing Bonsai. He was quite proud showing his beautiful trees at the S.J. County Fair and the Lodi Grape Festival.
Don is survived by his spouse Joy Ziemann, of Lodi, CA. Two sons, Brian Ziemann (Angie) of Salinas, CA. and Mark Ziemann of Woodbridge, CA. Two daughters, Gaye Hombaker (Gary) of Lodi, CA. and Lori Fuller (Greg) of Nevada City, CA. Also two grandsons, Christopher Wren (Bobbi) of Yucca Valley,CA and Karl Berg of Washington. Also his two sisters, Esther Bender and Irene Polenske (Phil) both of Lodi.
