After their marriage, the Mullens lived in Martinez before moving to Lodi in 1941. She is the mother of late Dennis Mullen (Joyce Mullen) of Capitola, CA who passed in November of 2010, Dr. Kenneth Mullen (Nancy Mullen) of Lodi, Patricia Anderson (Dan Anderson) of Lodi, and Catherine Herrmann (Jerry Herrmann) of Morada. Grandmother to 12 grandchildren, Jennifer Hall, Kelli Mullen, Mike Winkler, Chris Mullen, Peter Mullen, Kenny Mullen, Kimberly Mullen, Jeff Anderson, Shelly Carr, Christy Herrmann, Beth Herrmann and Scott Herrmann. Lovingly referred to as "Grandma Dot", she is also survived by 10 great grandchildren, Brooklyn Mullen, Robbie Hall, Ryan Hall, Isabelle Winkler, Nicholas Winkler, Sara Herrmann, Tara Herrmann, Mia Herrmann, Jackson Mullen and Aubrie Carr.
Dorothy was a competitive tennis player and in 1989 was ranked No. 2 in the state in the women's 65-and-over singles division. She was also an avid golfer and was a member of Woodbridge Golf & Country Club with her late husband. Her athleticism was matched by her artistic talents and she enjoyed painting and gardening. A true matriarch of this local family, she leaves behind a tradition of family gatherings, a strong work ethic and tenacious determination. Dorothy was a donor to Lodi Memorial Hospital Foundation and the SPCA.
A private family service will be held this week. Per Dorothy's wishes, donations may be made to any local charity.
