Dorothy Grace Troutwine Burrows of Lodi passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on July 24, 2012, at the age of 92. She was born July 17, 1920, to George Howard and Nellie Gaylord Troutwine of Traverse City, MI. She attended high school there and received her Diploma of Nursing from Saint Mary Mercy Hospital in Indiana in 1941. She worked as an RN in various settings for over 35 years.
Dorothy married the love of her life, Wayne Gibbs Burrows, Sr. on June 13, 1942. They raised their family in Traverse City and Long Lake, MI. They moved to Fresno, CA in 1973, to be near their children and grandchildren until retiring to Tucson, AZ in 1987. They remained there until 2003, moving to Lodi to be near family again. They were married for nearly 64 years and were devoted to each other until Wayne's passing in 2006. At that time she moved to the Commons on Thornton where she developed many deep friendships. Dorothy was a compassionate nurse, wonderful wife, and caring mother and grandmother. She loved to knit and sew and was an avid reader. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Pamela Kay Burrows Zin. She is survived by her son, Wayne Gibbs Burrows and his wife, Jackie of Woodbridge; son-in-law, Ken Zin of San Jose; former daughter-in-law, Marianne Burrows of Visalia; her grandchildren, Shelli and John Hampton, Amy and Dan Wells, Trey and Tammy Burrows, Bill and Deanna Norman, Heather and Todd Pastorini, and Craig and Cristy Hunter; 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. There is no visitation. Services and committal are private. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice of San Joaquin. A virtual website may be signed at www.lodifuneralhome.com where memories can be shared. Lodi Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
