Edward Donald Jackson Obituary
Ed was born one-half mile out of St. Paul, Minnesota. His father was a caretaker of a cemetery with an old house. He was born in that house, and always made fun saying "born in the cemetery and will end up in one".
He attended a one room school for eight grades with fifteen (15) students. After completing high school, he joined the Navy and served as a gunner and bombardier flying out of Attu, Elusion Islands. His crew was #8 in VP43 and one of the first Navy crews to bomb Japan.
Before moving to Lodi, he played softball twice a week and loved to fish with his wife in the summer.
He moved to Lodi in 1982 after working at NW Bell for 34 years. He enjoyed fishing with his brother-in-law, Eddie Muller. He joined the American Legion and was a commander in 1996 and 1989. He was very active American Legion for several years. In 2002 he was also voted into the Enlisted Honor Roll.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jacob and Frieda Jackson, 4 brothers, 4 sisters and spouse Hilma (Jackie) Jackson. He is survived by his son Paul Jackson of Lodi, Daughters; Shirley Young of Henderson, NV and Sandra Waxon of St. Paul, MN, 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Ed requested a private funeral. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Legion Post #22, 320 N. Washington St., Lodi, CA 95240
