Elsie Leona (Tiede) Eggers, 89 of Lodi passed away on Saturday, August 11, 2012. Born December 14, 1922 in Parkston, SD as one of two children to David and Bertha Tiede. Elsie worked on the family farm in South Dakota and for Greyhound during WWII where she met her future husband Al Eggers. They married March 24, 1946 in Stockton. She also worked with Al at their dry cleaning business in Lodi, cooked for Lodi Unified and finished the last 20 years of her career with the canneries in Lodi retiring in the early 1980's. She was active as a member of the Lodi Trailer Club, the Lodi Gem & Mineral Club and was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church (1948-2012) for 64 years. In retirement Elsie & Al enjoyed traveling to Germany, Spain & Morocco, cruises to Alaska, Panama Canal and traveling to many states in their motor home.
Survivors include, two children Kathy Marquardt (Gary) of Coalinga, CA, Dale Eggers (Mary) of Lodi, five grandchildren, David, Christine, Amy, Alan and Aron and four great grandchildren, Nicolas, Jacob, Natalie and Dylan.
Her husband of 66 years, Alvin "Al" Eggers precedes her in death in June of 2012, as does her older brother Bernhard Tiede who lived in San Jose, CA.
Viewing will begin at noon and end at service time in the Evergreen Chapel.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at 1:00 PM in the Evergreen Chapel at Cherokee Memorial Park. Entombment will be private at Cherokee.
