Ellis Norman "Spike" Roth was born June 1, 1926 in Albany, Oregon. He passed away July 11, 2012 in Lodi, Ca. at the age of 86. Born, raised and educated in Albany, Ellis entered the Navy directly after High School and served as a cook on the USS McGoffin from 1944 until 1946. After leaving the Navy he attended the San Francisco College of Mortuary Science where he earned his Mortician's License which allowed him to begin a long and successful career as a Funeral Director and Embalmer. After college he began working at Daniel's Chapel of the Roses in Santa Rosa, then Fehrensen Funeral Home in Sonoma and finally at Lodi Funeral Home in Lodi, where he worked until his retirement in 1999. Ellis was a long time member of the Masonic Temple #14 F. and A.M. He enjoyed cooking, gardening and traveling, especially trips back home Oregon and to the USS McGoffin Troop Transport reunions. He is survived by his sister; Esther Worth of Little Valley New York, his dear friend Dolores Munro of Lodi and many nieces and nephews, too numerous to mention but never forgotten. He was preceded in death by his parents; Ben and Amelia Roth; wife, Jean Roth; brothers, Tracy, Ben, Donald, and Rex Roth; sister, Pauline Blanchard and his companion of many years Audrey Fisher. Friends may visit Sunday, July 15th from Noon until 6:00 p.m. at Lodi Funeral Home, 725 S Fairmont Ave. Interment at Santa Rosa Memorial Park will be private at Ellis' request. Memorial contributions may be made to the . Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Lodi Funeral Home.
