Elmer C. Meyer passed peacefully unto our Lord, while at home, on August 24, 2012.
Mr. Meyer was born in Victor, California on August 18, 1926, to Albert and Martha (Rau) Meyer. He attended local schools and graduated from Lodi High School in 1945. He married Esther R. Mayer on April 16, 1949. He worked for General Mills as a maintenance mechanic, retiring after 35 years. Mr. Meyer was also a commercial fisherman for 13 years. He enjoyed fishing derbies (winning many trophies), gardening, and watching sporting events. He was a longtime member of Ebenezer Congregational Church and a former member of the Native Sons. He is survived by his wife, Esther R. Meyer; daughter, Deborah Flaherty; grandsons, Nathaniel and Ryan Flaherty; and great-granddaughter, Amanda C. Flaherty-Wydur. He was preceded in death by his son, Terrance Meyer; brother, Lloyd Meyer; sister, Jeanette Meyer; and son-in-law, David Flaherty. Friends are invited to visit Wednesday, August 29 from 3 p.m. - 8 p.m. and Thursday, August 30, from 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. at Lodi Funeral Home. A chapel service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, August 30, at 1 p.m. Committal will be private. A Celebration of Life Reception will immediately follow the service at Ebenezer Congregational Church, 825 S. Central Avenue, Lodi CA 95240. A virtual register book may be signed at www.lodifuneralhome.com where memories can be shared. Lodi Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
