Born Nov. 1, 1944 in San Mateo, Calif., he moved to Lodi at age 6 and graduated from Lodi High School in 1962. He was preceded in death by his parents Traver and Carlyle Martin.
He is survived by his wife Mary; sons Nathe, of Anniston, Ala., and Scott, of Oakland; brother Roy Martin (Cindy); and 16 nieces and nephews, including Kristen and Jenna Martin.

Rather than flowers, Gene requested donations to the Building Fund of the First Unitarian Church of San Jose or to CTRC (restoration of SP 2479), c/o Mineta Transportation Institute , 210 North 4th Street, San Jose, CA 95112.
