Florence Marion Wheeler died September 16, 2012 in Bakersfield, California. She has lived in Bakersfield for the past few years.

Florence was born April 2, 1925, Ashley, North Dakota to Joe A. and Mary (Wolf) Tschetter. The family moved to Lodi June 1942, where Florence graduated from Lodi High School in 1943. On February 21, 1947, Sacra-mento, California she married Gerald (Jerry) A. Wheeler. Jerry died December 8, 1964.
After the death of her husband, Jerry, Florence earned her Special Education Teaching Credential from The University of The Pacific, Stockton, California. She began teaching special educational classes and retired in 1988. In 1983, Florence established The Color Closet in downtown Lodi, a woman's clothing store. She retired from her retail business about 1997.
Florence was a charter member of Saint Pauls Lutheran Church, Lodi; past president of the American Association of Germans From Russia; past president of Lodi BPW Club; was on the board of directors for the Lodi Downtown Business Association; and a volunteer at The Salvation Army.
She is survived by her three children and their spouses: Dianne Ladd and her husband, Tom, of Bakersfield, California; Donna Sossamon and her husband, David, of Johnson City, Tennessee; and Dean Wheeler and his wife, Lisa Stafford, of Waupaca, Wisconsin. Her grandchildren: Jerry Ladd and his wife, Heather; Nancy Owyang and her husband, Ethan; Randy Sossamon; Carrie Sossamon; Zack Wheeler and Claire Wheeler. Her Great Granddaughters: Abigail Ladd and Olivia Owyang.
She was pre-deceased by her parents, Joe A. and Mary (Wolf) Tschetter, and her husband, Gerald A. Wheeler.
A burial service on September 19 at 10:00 AM, Lodi Memorial Cemetery, Pine Street, Lodi. All family and friends are invited to attend.
