Fred M. Spitzer, 72, of Lodi, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 surrounded by his wife of 33 years, his daughter and step-daughters. He was born May 16, 1942, and spent most of his years in Lodi.

Mr. Spitzer worked in Sacramento for the State Board of Equalization for 38 years. He was also self-employed as a carpet cleaner for 30 years and retired from Spitzer's Carpet Care in 2009. He also played in the Cell Block 7 Jazz Band, and with several other New Orleans Dixieland Jazz Bands in the area. Mr. Spitzer enjoyed reading and researching difficult Bible topics that cause many to debate.
Mr. Spitzer is survived by his wife, Barbara Spitzer, of Lodi, a daughter Nicole Spitzer and grandson, Dustin Huntzinger both of Napa, mother Olga Spitzer of Lodi, stepdaughters Corey Sienega of Los Angeles, CA and Deane Sienega of Seattle, Washington. His sister, Donna Wagenman and father, Leo Spitzer, preceded him in death.
Visitation will be at Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home on Monday, July 7, 2014 from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at 10:00 am at the Evergreen Chapel at Cherokee Memorial Park.
