Frieda Pauline Fischer, 86, of Lodi, passed away April 1, 2013. Born to Amelia Maier and Jacob Zwetzig, Jr. on April 2, 1926 in Sterling, Colorado, she lived and worked on the family farm as a child, and moved to Lodi in her early adult years. She met her husband, Merle, made life long friends working at the Purity soda counter, and lived the rest of her life in Lodi.|
Frieda was a vibrant and active woman who loved God, her family and friends. She retired from Luster Cal of Lodi as a Production Inspector. Frieda always had a sweet smile for everyone she met and gave abundant and unconditional love to all. Her passion was gardening, flowers and all things purple. Although she never learned to pump gas she was an expert in her kitchen where she was always fixing her families' favorites. As a Deacon of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Frieda tended to those sick at heart and those that were too ill to attend regular services. She tended to the spiritual needs of others, giving counsel and communion well into her eighties sharing the word of God and his blessings. Comically, Frieda always said she was going "to see the old people" never once considering she was one of them.
Frieda took the hand of God and walked up to heaven at the age of 86; she had no more pain in her knees and God granted her peaceful sleep. As her family lays her to rest we remember not her last days but her best days. We will try to remember her belief that "life is for the living" and her directive, to "always treat others the way you would want to be treated". Frieda will forever be in our hearts and our memory.
Frieda will be missed by her sons, Richard Fischer (Joy), Edward Fischer (Denice), and grandchildren, Boyd Lachance (Gretchen), Jocelyn Boyle (John), Lindsay Longo (Johnny), Alec Fischer, Ashley Virgilio (Tony), Brandon Fischer, and Kortney Agdeppa. She also leaves behind her great grandchildren, Carson, Nolan and Kellan Lachance, John Robert, Addison, Alisa and Leann Boyle, Johnny Longo the 4th, daughter in law Sandra Fischer, and former daughter in law Shirley Fischer-Murphy (John).
Frieda is preceded in passing by her husband of 39 years, Merle Fischer, and their son Robert Fischer.
In lieu of flowers Frieda would have loved that donations be made in her memory to Hospice of San Joaquin or The
. Graveside services will be held at 11am, Friday, April 12, 2013 at Cherokee Memorial Park, Hwy 99 and Harney Lane in Lodi. Please sign the online guestbook at www.cherokeememorial.com.
