Gladys Viola Jennings passed peacefully away on August 24, 2012. She was born January 4, 1930, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada to Emil & Lydia Yanke. As a child, she worked on the family farm with her parents and four sisters. She learned an excellent work ethic. In 1946, the family moved to Lodi where Gladys attended Lodi Seventh Day Adventist Academy. She completed her education as a Registered Nurse in Paradise Valley, San Diego. Gladys also owned and administered several convalescent hospitals. Gladys had two children, Jennifer (Jenny) and Brian and was a devoted mother. She loved to ski any mountain, hike the Sierra and travel the world. She was a member of the English Oaks Seventh-Day Adventist Church. She will be greatly missed by friends and family. Gladys is survived by her sisters, Irma Baker and Linda Mansur; grandchildren, Christopher Jennings and Michael Jennings; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her children, Jenny (age 13) and Brian (age 42); sisters Lilli Hollon and Elaine Verska. Friends are invited to visit at Lodi Funeral Home on Sunday, September 2, from 9 am until 1 pm. Committal will be at 1:30 pm at Cherokee Memorial Park. A memorial service will follow at 3:30 pm at English Oaks Seventh-day Adventist Church. A virtual register may be signed at www.lodifuneralhome.com where memories can be shared. Lodi Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
