Harvey Edward Rempert Obituary
Harvey Edward Rempert, age 93 of Lodi entered his heavenly home on Tuesday, February 12, 2013.
Harvey was born in Detroit, Michigan on October 9, 1919 to Fred and Selma (Fiedler) Rempert. The family moved to Tawas City, MI the following year where his father opened a garage and gas station. He was confirmed at Emanuel Lutheran Church, May 28, 1933 and attended Emanuel parochial school and Tawas High School, graduating in 1937.
On March 4, 1941, he was inducted into the US Army and served in England, France and Germany during WWII. As a Tech Sergeant, he had a platoon of men in the 864th Heavy Automotive Maintenance Unit with whom he kept in contact for many years and enjoyed their annual reunions.
Following his military duty, he served the US Navy at Rough and Ready Island Communication Station, Stockton, CA as their Transportation Foreman for 35 years and retired in 1979.
Harvey was a faithful Christian and a man of prayer all his life. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Stockton for 55 years. During that time he served on various boards and committees as well as congregational president, secretary and elder. He was also a member of the choir and taught Bible classes and Sunday School.
At his death, he was a member of Zion Reformed in Lodi where he continued to diligently study God's Word, made visitations to the sick and participated in Zion's prayer group.
He will be remembered for his humor, love of quips, quotes and good clean jokes; for his commitment to the Lord, love of family and friends, and his gentle, kind spirit.
Harvey is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Mary Lou, his daughters Roberta (Rod) Pearce, Conni (Marty) Schramm, Marla (Eddie) Parsons his grandsons, Bart Lally Jr., Brent Parsons, Matthew and Jonathan Bennett and one great-grandson, Teo Lally. He is further survived by his dear sister Rhea Ulman of Tawas City, Michigan, and many loved nieces, nephews and their children in Michigan.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Selma (Fiedler) Rempert, his son Terry, daughter Judy and siblings Beatrice Rempert, Evelyn Anschuetz, Mildred Rempert, Ethel Fox and Fred Rempert Jr.
Visitation will be Thursday, Feb. 21st 9:00am to 5:00pm and Friday Feb. 22nd 9:00am to Noon at the Donahue Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held Friday, Feb. 22nd 12:30pm at Cherokee Memorial Park Cemetery followed by a memorial service at 1:30pm in Zion Reformed Church, 105 S. Ham Lane, Lodi.
