Friday, October 5, 2012, Ira passed from this life and went home to be with the Lord and our Mother, Reba Mae Smith. Ira met the love of his life, Reba Mae Findley, in Russellville, Ark and were married on June 18, 1938. They were married 711/2 years at Mothers passing.

What a reunion that took place on Friday, when Dad entered into the portals of heaven. We can see our precious Mother standing there with our heavenly Father, with outstretched arms, welcoming Dad home. The announcement was made, "Ira, you have fought a good fight, you have finished the course, you have kept the faith; well done thou good and faithful servant, enter thou into the joy of the Lord. WELCOME HOME IRA!!
Ira is survived by his children, James (Jan) Smith, Patricia (Floyd) Brown, of Valley Springs, and Kenneth (Nancy) Smith of Stockton sisters Irene Metz of Valley Springs, Juanita Honeycutt of Russellville, Ark., and a brother, Harvey Smith of Herron, IL., two sisters-in-law, Jean Findley Jones of Russellville, Ark., and Marian Findley of Chico, CA., 5 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 5 great, great grandchildren.
Ira was preceded in death by his wife, Reba Mae Smith of Valley Springs, his Mother and Father, Annie and Daniel Smith of Stockton, sisters Violet Smith of Russellville, Ark., and Sybil Kent of Stockton, brothers-in-law Bill Honeycutt and Reverend L.B. Findley of Russellville, Ark., William Findley of Redding, CA., and sister-in-law Donna Lou Smith of Herron, IL.
Ira was a loving husband and father, devoted to God and his family. He loved his family and friends deeply. To know him was to love him.
Dad was called into the ministry at the age of 16 in Russellville, Ark. Mother and Dad dedicated their entire life to serving God and others. Dad is an Ordained Minister with the Assemblies of God affiliation. His pastoral assignments included churches in Russellville, Ark., as well as East 8th Street Assembly of God and Bethel Assembly of God in Stockton. He was also the Assistant Pastor of the Assembly of God church in Quartzite, Ariz.
Mother and Dad attended the Valley Christian Center (VCC) church in Valley Springs, for 27 years. Dad was very involved in the building program and served in many capacities while attending VCC. At the time of Dad's passing he was attending SOS Ministries of Valley Springs. Dad retired from Delta Pump in Stockton, CA., in 1984.
We miss you Dad, but we take comfort in knowing that you are now free of this life's struggles, no more sickness or pain. Your suffering is over. You're home at last. We love and miss you.
We would like to express our deepest thanks and appreciation to our extended family at Mark Twain Convalescent Hospital, San Andreas, CA, for their loving kindness and the outstanding care provided for our Mother and Father. Special thanks to the B-Wing Staff "Blessed Wing": and we truly were. Thank you.
Family and Friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Ira's life, 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 12, 2012, at Valley Christian Center, 2475 Silver Rapids Rd, Valley Springs, CA. Reception to follow service at Veterans Hall, 189 Pine St, Valley Springs, CA. Burial will follow the reception at Cherokee Memorial Park, Hwy 99 and Harney Lane, Lodi, CA at 3:00 p.m.
