John Spiro Stathatos passed away at the age of 83 on August 5, 2012. John was born in Sacramento, CA on January 19, 1929 to Spiros Stathatos and Martha Rue. He graduated from Lodi High School. John lived in Lodi for a number of years before he joined the service. John served 4 years in the Merchant Marines. At this time he earned the "Golden Gloves" heavy weight title. Baseball and a love of animals were among his passions. He also enjoyed tending rose trees, watching TV and reading comic strips. John worked for 32 years as a route driver for Xclusive Angelica Laundry. He later worked for American Medical Response as a linen supply driver. John was known for his friendly, outgoing demeanor and also had quite the sense of humor. John was a beloved father and friend with a generous heart who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
John is preceded in death by his loving wife Emily Stathatos, his parents Spiros Stathatos and Martha Rue, daughter Deborah Stathatos, grandson Sean Johnson, brother Steven Rosevere, friend Steve Kappos and his beloved and cherished copilots: mini Schnauzers, Rocky and Cody. He leaves behind his children; Greg John Stathatos (Betty) and Teresa Marie Stathatos, his 4 grandchildren; Jason Johnson, Tamica Barney, David Stathatos and Paul Romero, and 2 great-grandchildren; Amir and Mia Small. He also leaves behind sister-in-law Toya Rosevere and family, close friends Vivian Souza and Kathy Kappos, as well as his 2 cherished, cats Chloe and Buster.
A graveside service will be held at 11am Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at Cherokee Memorial Park, in the Garden of Trees, Hwy 99 & Harney Ln., Lodi.
