John Thomas Van Santen, "Big John", passed away at the age of 69 in Lodi, CA on January 7, 2013. John was born in Elk Grove, CA on October 30, 1943 and was raised there until he graduated Elk Grove High in 1961. He served in the army in the Vietnam conflict. He met Wanda Mae Zimmerman through a blind date arranged by their mutual friend, Barney Bender and the two were married on August 10th, 1969. John and Wanda made their home in Lodi. They raised 3 daughters and now have 2 granddaughters, with another on the way. John worked at the Geohring's Meat Company for over 20 years and continued his career at the General Mills cereal company in the mid-1980s. He worked there until he retired in 2004. He and Wanda attended Temple Baptist Church. John will be missed dearly by his family and friends.

John is preceded in death by his parents, Esdert Cornelius Van Santen and Theresa Johanna Van Santen (Boechers) and brother, Edward Van Santen. He is survived by his loving wife, Wanda Mae Van Santen (Zimmerman); 3 daughters: Tonya Tiffany Selberg and her husband, Scott Allan Selberg, Trista Taryn Boucher and her husband, Chad Wesley Boucher, and Tasha Tudor Van Santen; 2 grandchildren: Taryn Teresa Boucher and Havyn Elsie Boucher and siblings: August Van Santen, Lena Van Santen, Duane Ernst, Shirley Tomaiuolo Ernst, and Sharon Ernst.
Interment will be held privately for John's immediate family and siblings on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at the Point Pleasant Cemetery in Point Pleasant, CA. A reception to celebrate John's life for all family and friends will be held at 2:30pm on Wednesday, January 16th, 2013 at Temple Baptist Church, 801 South Lower Sacramento Road, Lodi, CA 95242.
