Jonathan Nakanishi Obituary
Jon Nakanishi, 42, beloved husband, father, son, brother and friend passed away peacefully on June 21, 2012. He was born on November 14, 1969 in Newport News, Virginia to Alan and Sue Nakanishi. Jon grew up in Lodi where he graduated from Lodi Academy, Pacific Union College and University of the Pacific's Mc George School of Law.
He made his home in Susanville where he served as Lassen Superior Court Family Law Facilitator, Senior Attorney for the Court and as Judge of the Lassen Teen Court. Jon served as board chair for Northeastern Rural Health, as advisor for Law and Government Explorer Post, was a member of his local and regional church board and served on the Lassen Juvenile Justice Commission. He had recently won the June Primary for Lassen Superior Court Judge.
As a young man, he worked at a summer camp for youth where he learned to value young people and continued to make them a priority. He believed that investing in children would pay dividends in the future. Wherever you heard the laughter of children, you would find Jon right in the middle. He loved the outdoors, and spending time with family and friends. We will miss his smile and ready laughter, the mischievous glint in his eye, his encouraging words and kindness.
Jon is survived by his wife, Rochelle; daughters, Kaitlyn, Natalie and Jessica; parents, Alan and Sue Nakanishi. His sisters, Pam Tsuchiya (Howard), Jennifer Cooper (Phil), and many nephews and nieces.
A Memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., July 14 at English Oaks Seventh-day Adventist Church in Lodi. For the benefit of Jon's three young daughters in lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up at US Bank in the name of Jon Nakanishi.
