Joseph was born August 18, 1957, in Kingsburg, California to Joe and Vickie Bettencourt
In 1962, he moved with his family to Stockton where he graduated from Franklin High School in 1975. After high school he took part in the Journeyman Apprentice Program at Delta College and became a diesel mechanic. On June 14, 1980, he married his best friend, Betty Jean Tyler, and they finally settled in Lodi in 1999. Then in 2003, Joseph proudly purchased his first diesel truck and established J & J Trucking, where he worked as an owner operator until he became ill.
His passions included the Drum and Bugle Corps, Dallas Cowboys, NASCAR, drag racing, and music from the Beatles to Hank Williams, Jr. Joseph enjoyed long Harley rides with his wife, collecting Hot Rods and Tonka toys. In his later years, Joseph found great joy in spending time with his loving and cherished family, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
