Leslie (Les) Walter Doddington, passed away in Lodi on March 22, 2013 at the age of 86. Born in San Francisco on June 3, 1926, he served his country honorably in the Navy and later attended college. Les had a career in the lumber business that extended 55 years. He was very successful as a salesman and manager over his long span in that industry. Much of his success was attributed to his hard work, quick wit and hilarious "fish stories". In addition, over the years of his illness, his upbeat, fun personality quickly won over the hearts of all who cared for him. |
Les was a true outdoorsman and an avid sports fan. Additionally, he enjoyed golf, puttering around his workshop, analyzing the ins and outs of the family vineyard, long conversations with his children, watching and hearing about the activities of his grand and great grandchildren but, by far, his all time favorite pastime was his wife, Lillian.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Lillian Doddington of Acampo, children, Dan Doddington (Barbara) of Oregon, George Doddington (Lana) of Oregon, Linda Pyle of Concord, stepchildren: Wayne Diede (Verna), Marcia Lee, (Bob), Steven Diede (Bo), Margo Cook (Mark), and Bruce Diede (Tammy) all of Lodi; 23 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and a sister Dorothy Roberts of San Rafael.
Friends are invited to attend funeral services at 11:00 am on Friday, March 29, 2013 at the Chapel of Flowers at Cherokee Memorial Park, Highway 99 and Harney Lane in Lodi.
