Lynn (Jones) Hellman Obituary
Lynn Alexandra (Jones) Hellman, age 57, passed away peacefully on May 9th, surrounded by her devoted husband of 34 years and 4 generations of her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Those who knew Lynn feel blessed to have felt her genuine love and kindness that she always shared generously. Lynn had a huge heart that enjoyed helping others unconditionally. At a young age Lynn taught herself woodworking and grew to be a talented craftsperson often taking on new projects just to help someone. Lynn, also, took great pride in her yard and garden that reflected her love of nature and family. She always had a shady spot nearby to sit and share.
Adventure and travel with her husband, Dave, included trips in their convertible or camping with their travel trailer to catch the best sun wherever they were headed, usually, to visit family and friends in many states. Lynn had a great love for the Yosemite area that began when she worked for the National Park Service as a fire fighter at Lake Eleanor and became America's first female crew supervisor leading an all-female crew with the NPS. Their crew known as "The Snags" continues to be close friends and often have reunions near Yosemite.
Lynn was born in St Paul, MN, moved with her family as a child to Lodi, CA, where she attended school, graduated from Lodi High School and attended Delta and Columbia Colleges. After leaving the NPS because they would not allow her to keep her beloved dog, Brandy onsite, she worked 36 years for PG&E in Stockton where she met her husband, Dave, and enjoyed keeping in touch with co-workers and retirees. Lynn and Dave made their home in Manteca in recent years to be closer to their three grandchildren and participate in their daily activities. Lynn was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Manteca and Gideons International. A common memory heard from all the nieces and nephews has been that she was always there for them-at a game, remembering their special occasions, secret treats or a pan of Auntie Lynn's delicious cinnamon rolls made with love.
Lynn is survived by her husband David; daughter Michelle King, 3 grandchildren Christopher, Ryan and Hailey King all of Manteca; mother Elizabeth Campbell, Murphys; siblings Deborah Osterman (Gene), Forest Lake, MN; Connie Cook, Murphys; Susan Jones Dudley, Lodi; Kevin Jones (Shannon), Vallecito; numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews that she loved. Lynn will always be known for her love of "Family First".
A celebration of Lynn will be held Monday 11am on May 20th at the First Baptist Church 3535 N El Dorado St, Stockton, CA 95204 (209) 466-4368 followed by a reception at the Church. Charitable donations may be made to Gideons International at PO Box 692121, Stockton, Ca 95269; or Give Every Child a Chance, 601 Commerce Crt, Manteca, CA 95336.
