Mrs. Maria Cantu, 87, passed away peacefully in her sleep, with family at her side, on Sept. 15, 2013, after a lengthy illness. She had been a resident of Galt for 45 years and spent the last ten months living with her daughter in Lockeford.

Maria was the loving wife of Adan G. Cantu, Sr., for 59 years until his death in April, 2008, and mother of 11 children. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed sewing and crocheting
Maria is survived by her children, Horace Cantu & wife, Gloria, of Stockton; Homer Cantu & wife, Meta, of Texas; Olivia Cantu Salazar & husband, Jesus, of Nevada; Oscar Cantu & wife, Rosalisa, of Galt; Homar Cantu & wife, Linda, of Galt; Angel Cantu & wife, Paula of Lodi; Adam Cantu, Jr., of Lodi; Arnoldo Cantu & wife, Lydia, of Lodi; America Cantu Rees & husband, Tom, of Lockeford; and 27 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, 3 sisters, her husband, Adan C. Cantu, her daughter, Maria Olga Cantu Medina, her infant son and her grandson, Carter De Camp.
A memorial service will be held at St. Joachim's Catholic Church in Lockeford on Sept, 27, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. with inurnment immediately following at Harmony Grove Cemetery in Lockeford.
