Mary Rose Lee died recently in St. Louis, MO.|
Mary was the youngest of seven children and was born in New York City. She grew up in Jackson Heights, New York and went to college at the University of Michigan.
Throughout her life she lived in many places; Vancouver, Canada; Connecticut, Massachusetts, Puerto Rico, and finally settled in Lodi, California for 36 years. Her last years were spent near her daughters Sharon and Diane in St. Louis, Missouri.
She worked in Stockton for the San Joaquin County Public Defenders Office as a secretary for 20 years.
Mary Rose had a knack for enjoying the simple things in life; walking to the lake and chatting with friends in West Hartford, Connecticut, going to the beach in Puerto Rico, walking her beloved dog, Duffy, on Denby Lane on the warm summer evenings in Lodi.
Her retirement years were a very happy time for her. She golfed, played poker with her friends, read and enjoyed gardening (she was particularly proud of her many varieties of roses)
Her family was paramount to her and she was immensely proud of all of her children.
In her later years she moved to St. Louis to be close to two of her daughters. At that time, she particularly enjoyed Sunday dinner at the Mason's. She would sit in front of the fireplace in "her chair" with a glass of wine and just smile. She always had some thoughts to share.
She will be forever in our hearts and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her five children: Diane Lee and Sharon Mason of St. Louis, MO, Catherine Lee of Condon, OR, David Lee of Pescadero, CA and Brian Lee of El Granada,CA, as well as her grandchildren: Kristen Mason, James Lee and Rachel Lee. Services will be at a later date.
