Milt Grieser, native son of Lodi, passed away July 23, 2012, at age 90, in Ellensburg, Wa. He was son of Lydia and Adolph Grieser, brother of Ruth, schooled in Lodi, then graduated from C.O.P. in 1943. He received a commission as Ensign, US Navy, from Columbia U, NY and promptly sent to South Pacific war theater, (WW11). He first commanded a LCT, and later was an officer on a LST. After 18 months of active duty, he returned to US on leave and married his college sweetheart, Maxine Barks. After 6 more months duty in occupied Japan, he returned home for good, and was shortly employed by Pac Telephone Co, Traffic Dept, Sacramento. He remained with that corporation until he retired in 1983 as Division Manager, Administrative Services, US West, Seattle. Along with work, Milt and family enjoyed camping and at their beach cabin, Neskowin, Or. After their 3 daughters were grown, he and Maxine enjoyed traveling, both trips abroad, and around US and Mexico in their motor home. He was an avid golfer and charter member of Sahalee CC, Redmond, Wa. Health decline prompted their move to Ellensburg in 2000 to be near family. Milt was a Lifelong Christian, and enjoyed singing tenor in Church choirs. He leaves behind his wife, Maxine of 67 yrs, and daughters, Beverly, Barbara & Betsey, their spouses, 5 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister, Ruth in 2006.
