Minnie Ethelene Jones Obituary
Minnie Ethelene Jones, 81, entered into eternal peace on Friday, July 19, 2013, at her home in Lodi, California.
Ethelene was born on August 25, 1931, in Gotebo, Oklahoma, a daughter of the late Ulysses and Nellie McGuire. She came to California in 1945 and attended Stockton High School. She married Donald Bill Jones in July 1949 and together they made their home in Lodi where they lived for over fifty years.
She worked as a bookkeeper for National Towel & Linen and then to Valley Showcase of Stockton, CA.
Ethelene loved spending time with friends and she always had a joke to tell. She had a loving and generous heart, and was always giving to others. She enjoyed life to its fullest and had a special love for the game of golf. She has many lifelong friends that were made on the golf course. Gambling at the Casinos was another favorite pastime. It just took a mention and she was ready to go.
There were many barbeques and horseshoe games at the Jones house. Ethelene always made her family and friends feel welcome as she made sure everyone enjoyed themselves. There were very few ball games played by any of her kids, grandkids or great grandkids that she was not in the stands rooting for them.
She was a member of the Loyal Order of the Amaranth Lodge, PTA President, and 4-H instructor. She was a member of The Business Women's Golf Club, Monday Whiffers, Wednesday Strokers and The Sunday Couples Group all of Forest Lake Golf Club.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 61 years, Donald Jones in 2010. Also predeceased are her parents, 3 brothers and 5 sisters.
Ethelene had an unwavering faith in God. She was a member of The Gateway Church in Lockeford, CA. She loved her church and the monthly potlucks in the park.
She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her three children, Dewight Jones (Judy), Letha Pinnell (Robert) and Ray Jones, seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, a loving sister Betty Kendall, and many adorning nieces and nephews and (too many to count) friends.
Services will be held Thursday morning at 11:00 am at the Chapel of the Flowers, Cherokee Memorial Park, Lodi, with Pastor Manny Campos officiating. A Celebration of her life will be held afterwards at the Lodi Womens Club, 325 W. Pine Street, Lodi.
Memorial contributions if you choose may be made to Hospice of San Joaquin, 3888 Pacific Avenue, Stockton, CA 95204.
