Robert F. Lagomarsino passed away on August 14, 2013 in his home in Lodi, CA. He is survived by his first wife, Doris Veit Lagomarsino, and their 5 children, Michael Lagomarsino of Citrus Heights, CA; Bruce Lagomarsino of Carmichael, CA; Christy Lagomarsino of Lodi, CA; John Lagomarsino of West Sacramento, CA; and Adele Lagomarsino of Fair Oaks; and 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Bob is preceded in death by his 2nd and 3rd wives, Mary Lagomarsino and Lucille Madden Lagomarsino.
Bob was born on July 23, 1922 in Angels Camp, CA. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on March 4, 1941 and served with the 549 Night Fighter Squadron as a gunner in the Pacific Theater during WW2. Except for a short break in service after the war, he remained in the Air Force for the next 30 years retiring in April 1971. He served his country at bases in Wiesbaden, Germany; San Marcos, TX; Spangdahlem, Germany; Laredo, TX; Dreux, France; Cannon AFB NM; Luke AFB, AZ; and Eglin AFB, FL. He was also part of the US Air Force contingent in support of the UN Peacekeeping Force in the Congo during the upraising in 1960-61. After retiring as a SM/SGT, Bob moved back to Lodi and became very involved in the local VFW post and serving as District Commander. Interment will be private at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon CA.
