Ronald Malcolm Stancil passed away unexpectedly at his home in Thornton on August 31, 2013 at the age of 67. Born in Lodi on December 22, 1945 to John Q. and Mary Stancil, he served his country honorably in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. Ron worked for over 31 years at Tracy Army Depot, from which he retired. He dedicated his life to hard work-- in his 31 years he took almost no sick time off. He enjoyed boating on the Delta and spending time with his family and friends. Ron was easy-going and his door was always open to friends and family. He is preceded in death by his parents, niece Karen Drake, and nephew John Q. Stancil Jr. (Jon Jon.) Ron is survived by his brother John Stancil (Judy) of Thornton; sisters: Sonya Stirm (Dale) of Walnut Grove, and Barbara Drake (Mike) of Stockton; Nieces and nephews: Rick Stancil, Roberta Tirapelle, Teri Heibel, Troy Stirm; and great-nephews Chad and Cole, and great-nieces Taylor and Emma. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, September 12, 2013 in front of the fountain at the Garden of Freedom at Cherokee Memorial Park, Hwy. 99 at E. Harney Lane in Lodi. Interment will be at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, CA. Donations may be made to donor's choice.
