Ruth E. Barber, 90, of Lodi, died of natural causes on Feb. 23 at her residence. She was born Jan. 29, 1923 in Cape Elizabeth, Maine.

Mrs. Barber was a resident of Lodi for the past 15 years. She received an AA degree in Early Childhood Education and spent many years as an exceptional preschool teacher who also loved to garden and go camping. She and her late husband traveled to every state capital and most national parks. They drove the Alaska Highway twice. They spent many summers in Maine surrounded by their loving family.
She loved God, was a member of First Baptist Church in Lodi, and had been a Sunday school teacher and leader for many years when her sons were young,
Ruth is survived by her son Donald Crosby of Oakland, stepson David Barber (Debbie) of LaQuinta, CA, her daughters-in-law Susan Crosby of Lodi and Diana Crosby of New York, her sister Henrietta Lombard of Scarborough, Maine; 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Barber, her son Kenneth Crosby of Lodi, her son Wayne Crosby of Castleton, NY; her brother, Henry Hutchinson of Maine, and her sister Harriett Whitten of Maine.
A cryptside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Chapel of the Flowers at Cherokee Memorial Park, Hwy. 99 and E. Harney Lane, Lodi. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, at Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home, 831 Industrial Way, Lodi. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of San Joaquin or First Baptist Church of Lodi.
