Stella K. Kratsas Gemellos, 88 years young, passed peacefully in her sleep June 24, 2012. She was born September 1, 1923, and was raised in Verona, Pennsylvania, along with her older brother and four younger sisters. Stella was chosen to be in the National Honor Society during high school and participated in drama class. She worked for the A&P grocery store. Stella was also a Pittsburgh Steelers season ticket holder in the 1940's.

In 1948, she met and married her husband George Gemellos and moved to Lodi, California. She was a homemaker until she and her husband bought the Idlewild Inn and ran the store for many years. Upon retiring, they moved to Tower Park Village.
Stella is survived by her beloved husband George; daughter Valli Wigt (Pete) and son George Gemellos II (Eire); grandchildren Gabe Lawson, Max Wigt, George Gemellos III, Lila Gemellos, Marc Gemellos (Amanda), and John Gemellos; and great-granddaughters Kylie Wigt and Mia Gemellos. She also leaves behind sisters Helen Cocheres, Connie Barlamas (Zee), and Georgia Pappas (Spiro).
She was pre-deceased by her parents Vasiliki and John Viores and Kiriakos Kratsas, brother Nick Kratsas (Claudia), sister Katie Battis (Eleftherios), and brother-in-law Steve Cocheres.
Stella was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church and was proud of her Greek heritage. Her parents were immigrants from the island of Icaria, Greece. She enjoyed cooking, baking, football, and golf. Stella was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. On game days, she would wear her Steelers jersey and earrings to match. She knew everything about the Steelers organization.
Many thanks go to the hospice nurses and Hospice House of San Joaquin, the staff at Cherokee Memorial Park, and Fr. Soteri of St. Basil Greek Orthodox Church. Services were private.
