Tom M. Kiriu, lifelong resident of Lodi, died on October 27. He was born on December 5, 1922. Tom was a truck driver with George Kishida Trucking for many years and was an active leader in the Lodi Boy Scouts and a coach in the Lodi Buddhist Church basketball league. He later enjoyed a long retirement cheering for his San Francisco Giants and tending his roses, fruit trees, and tomato plants. He also spent many happy hours watching the sporting events and dance performances of his grandchildren and enjoying time with his family and numerous friends.
He was preceded in death by his son Rick, his granddaughter Kristen Villa Kiriu, his brothers Kazuo, James, and Bill, and his sister Nancy Kawaguchi. He is survived by Terry Kiriu, his loving wife of 59 years, his three sons Randy (Debra), Russell (Sandy), and Rob, and Rick's widow Inez. He is also survived by his grandchildren Kristopher and Karissa Kiriu.
Services will be held Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the Lodi Buddhist Church. Interment will be private.
Lodi Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
