Ruth Bertha Delk passed away on March 10, 2014, at the age of 100. She was born May 23, 1913, to John and Rose (Miller) Fischer in North Dakota. She was the second oldest of 12 children. Ruth worked for many years in North Dakota and Minneapolis. In 1946, she moved to California where she met and married Emil Delk. They lived on a farm on Jacktone Road. Emil had 3 children when their mother passed away; Marcella Jones, Roger Delk, and Verna Woodyard. They had two daughters, Katherine Holtzapple and Linda Patron. For many years, Ruth was very active in the First Baptist Church of Lodi Sunday School, Mission Work, as well as White Cross. She also visited the shut-ins. She is survived by two daughters, Katherine Holtzapple and Linda (Adolph) Patron; step-daughter, Marcella (Herb) Jones, who are Missionaries; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; sister, Ruby Stanford; three sisters-in-law, Violet Fischer, Gladys Fischer, and Eleanor Nideng. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emil Delk; step-son, Roger Delk; and step-daughter, Verna Woodyard. Friends are invited to visit Wednesday, March 19, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. at Lodi Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held Thursday, March 20, at 10 a.m. at Cherokee Memorial Park. A Memorial Service will follow at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 267 N. Mills Avenue, Lodi, CA 95242. Lodi Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
